American Heart AssociationCoronary heart disease is the nation's single leading cause of death. This year, approximately 1.2 million Americans will have a first or recurrent heart attack and 325,000 of them will die from sudden cardiac arrest before they are hospitalized. In addition, over 30,000 babies die each year from congenital heart birth defects — and thousands more experience significant struggles as a result of heart complications. Time Warner Cable is proud to partner with the American Heart Association (AHA) whose primary mission is building healthier lives, free of cardio vascular disease and stroke. Founded in 1924, the AHA works with individuals and communities around the country promoting healthier lifestyles and highlighting the importance of early intervention with heart attacks. Here in Maine and New Hampshire, the local chapters of the AHA raise much needed funds with several heart walks around the area. To learn more about the AHA, visit www.americanheart.org. Heart Walk
In addition to public service announcements, Time Warner Cable is producing an 8–10 minute video highlighting individuals impacted by heart disease and stroke — and the research professionals within the medical community working to fight this disease each day. Governor John Baldacci will provide an introduction to the video that will run on our New England On-Demand channel (available in portions of our service area) on channel 905. |

Time Warner Cable is the media sponsor for this year's hear walks promoting these events with public service announcements running on cable networks across our service area. In addition, we've purchased several hundred of the AHA's “CPR Anytime Kits” offering individuals an important refresher course on CPR skills. These kits are being given to Team Captains of the various heart walks with the hope they are passed along to help others learn important life saving techniques.
