Mainely Character

Ask any parent what they want their children to grow up to be and by and large, the answer usually centers on the child being a good person with strong values.

Mainely Character is an organization that rewards character and individual exemplary behavior with an annual $5,000 scholarship to a graduating Maine high school senior.

Time Warner Cable is honored to sponsor this prestigious scholarship and this year, our winner is Rebekah Wakefield of Burlington, Maine.

When Rebekah saw the need for after-school educational programs for the youth in her small town, she took action by rallying the community to build a 4-H barn where children could come and learn more about animals and the history of their farming community. Her determination, caring and strong desire to help others were all instrumental in making this project a success and Mainely Character is proud to name her our 2007 scholarship winner.

Rebekah will be going to the University of North Carolina in the fall where she hopes to study veterinary medicine. Her goal one day is to come back home and provide veterinary services for the people of her community.
