Playful, rowdy and very comical. I am but one of the many kittens waiting for adoption here at the shelter. it's a rough time of year with all the pregnant cats and kittens that arrive in numbers during the warmer seasons. I am one of the lucky ones, because I am being neutered soon and will not be able to add to the already overwhelming population problem that the shelter is faced with everyday. If by chance I am already adopted when you get to the shelter to visit me, please don't be discouraged. I have many friends, (both feline and canine) that are patiently awaiting their turn in the spot light. For more information, please contact the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society in Lewiston at 207-783-2311 Conway - Rosey came to CAHS in May of this year with very little hope of survival. She was discovered near-death by the animal control officer and brought to a local veterinarian to be euthanized, since her prognosis was rather grim. She couldn't move. She couldn't meow. She couldn't stand. She couldn't eat. She was extremely malnourished, severely dehydrated, and barely breathing. However, despite all of this, just before she was about to be given the injection that would end her misery, she gave the vet staff a sign. She moved her paw, which should have been impossible. Everyone was shocked. That very day, CAHS was asked to give her a few days for a chance at life, since no one had the heart to put her down. It was obvious that this one-year-old Torti wanted to live. Because she was given a chance, Rosey has made a miraculous recovery over the past two months. Rosey has proven herself to be a remarkable cat who just doesn't know when to quit. She's now at the point where she's available for adoption and looking for her new "forever home." She may never fully recover from her ordeal. She still wobbles slightly when she walks and she doesn't jump very well, but now that she feels like a beautiful girl once again, there's no telling just how far this kid will go. Cuddles, purrs, and walks on a leash are no stranger to her. She's so willing to do all that she can to show you how tough she is. All she needs now is someone to give her just one more chance for a loving home. For more information, please contact The Conway Area Humane Society at 603-447-5955.

Sporting a velvety gray coat with a white diamond on her chest, Squeakie is a dainty little gem of a cat that likes to sit on sunny window sills and take life at her own sweet pace. Squeakie was adopted about four years ago, but she was returned on St. Patrick’s Day of this year due to allergies in the family. A Meet Your MatchTM purple Private Investigator, Squeakie demonstrates the independent personality of the type. She is shy, but she talks up a storm when she’s spoken to, and she shows every sign of wanting to be close to someone special. Given time, Squeakie may prove to be a wonderful companion for a single person or a couple who understand that the best friendships often take some time to develop. A visit to the veterinarian for a dental check up will be in order, as she has mild tarter. Squeakie would prefer a home with no dogs or children under ten, but she may be fine with a mellow cat or two. Her former owner also reported that she loves men! If a tender soul is something you seek, Squeakie is waiting to curl up in your heart. For more information, please contact The Animal Refuge League in Westbrook at 207-854-9771.
