Westbrook - Millie is a pretty black and tan girl who was found as a stray. She weighs 69 pounds and appears to be a possible Lab/Rottweiler mix, approximately 2-4 years old. Millie is friendly to people, and greeted her evaluator by wiggling and bounding around with delight. At play time she preferred to interact with her evaluator, but if she was ignored she would play with toys on her own. She focused very well on our food lure and learned new behaviors quickly. She was not possessive of food, toys, or rawhides. Millie is young, healthy, energetic, and enthusiastic. She jumps up to greet people, and at the same time doesn’t appear to know any common obedience commands. We are sure she will do well in the “Manners For Dogs” classes, for which new owners will receive a discount. Millie will do best in a home without cats, unless they are very confident dog-savvy cats who will stand their ground. She is not well socialized to other dogs, and can be reactive and defensive with dogs who are larger than she is. The classes will be a huge help with her socialization at the same time she is learning basic manners. Millie has all the potential in the world to be a wonderful pet for active people who enjoy sharing their lives and outdoor activities with a very good dog. Come and meet her, and see if you agree.
